Valentines Memory

I have decide that I want to document some of my fondest memories of Daddy here on the blog. Now that we have the blog in a hard back book to keep forever, I think this is a wonderful way to keep these memories.
1993...(sophomore year, I think)
Valentines Day was not a day I really looked forward to in high school. I never had a boyfriend or anyone special to celebrate this day with. Every year I would watch the girls walk to the front office to look at their deliveries from the florist. The conference room on Valentines Day was always filled with flowers, balloons, and stuffed animals. I would smile for my friends receiving them, but inside I was always a little sad that I didn't receive anything. I don't remember where I was when I received the notice that I had a delivery in the front office, but I do remember my feeling. Who was it from? What did they send me? I waited until the next bell and dashed to the front office. I walked around the conference room looking for my name. I came across the beautiful purple tulips. They almost had an iridescent blue/purple sheen to them. They were beautiful. The card was signed, "Your someone special," or "Your secret admirer." I'm not sure which. I didn't find out until later that they were from Daddy. To this day, whenever I see tulips, I am reminded of the ones I received that special Valentines Day.

Presidents' Day @ the Beach

Mackenzie in her little Bumbo beach chair.
Taking a little cat nap.

I love having time off, but I always seem to find things to keep me busy around the house. So when my friend Tammy asked if I would be interested in going to be beach, I jumped on the opportunity. Mackenzie has been to the beach a handful of times, but I have not been without having Adam there to help me out. I was a little nervous, but as always Hunter was perfect. I wish I had a picture of me caring everything to the beach. Thanks to my Thirty-One large utility totes, my Baby Bjorn, and some strong muscles I made it to the beach with the following: beach toys, Bumbo seat, beach pack-n-play, beach bag, and THE TRUCK. The weather was perfect. Mackenzie even took a little nap. I am hoping to do it again soon.

Red Velvet Anyone???

Red Cake + White Shirt = Nervous Mommy
Mackenzie helping out by cheering us on.
Adam's birthday was this past weekend. He loves Red Velvet cake. He also loves ice cream cake. Hunter and I decided to try to create one (I did this a few years back and it turned out ok.) This one I did a little differently, but boy it was yummy!!! Hunter is quite the cook. He loves liking the bowl. We had a small celebration at home with his favorite meal, Cajun Pasta. We did have a night out without kids. We treated ourselves to dinner at the Capital Grill. Delicious steaks and time together were on the menu. We had a wonderful night out.

Using my Wallet

Hunter has been saving his money to buy something special. About a month ago we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast before going to church. He didn't have his money at that time, but their was a toy airplane he wanted. He talked about it for a few weeks. We went back this past weekend and he purchased it with his own money. He put it on the counter, pulled out his wallet, and paid. He was really proud of himself.

Random story about Cracker Barrel...
One day while we were riding home, Hunter said he was hungry. I had some PB and crackers in the car. He munched on those for a few minutes and then discovered he had some crumbs on his seat. Next thing I know, I hear, "Mom, look at me." I turned around for a brief moment to see Hunter with his cracker crumbs in hand, throwing them up in the air, saying "Welcome to Cracker Barrel." Love it!!! Just wanted to have this documented for future giggles :)

Valentines Evening on the Beach

Happy to be at the beach with his truck! (Which by the way is Truck 2. Truck 1 has been retired and hauled off.)
Mackenzie and Mama hanging out.

She loved the sound of the waves. She smiled and cooed the whole time.

I love my husband! On my way home this afternoon I called him to see if he had the kiddos yet. He was waiting for me at home and said that he wanted me to come with him to get the kids. I got home and he had the beach bag packed and ready to go. We picked up the kids and suprised them with dinner on the beach. It was rather cold and windy, but I couldn't have asked for a better Valentines treat.

Trucks, Trucks, Trucks

Hunter helping the fireman with the hose.
My little fireman working hard.

Hunter, Samantha, and Jackson huddling under a swamp buggy.

"The BIGGEST tire ever," as Hunter explains to his friends.

The bus was a favorite. Above Hunter is hanging out with Samantha and Jackson. Below he is hanging out with Colin. Fun times on the bus!

I love me some tractor!!!

This past weekend we went on an adventure to discover the different kinds of trucks that are around Collier County. Hunter loves trucks so I knew this would be a hit. (Thanks Christine for letting us know about this.) Tractors, buses, dump trucks, water trucks, fire engines, and much more to explore. It was a fun afternoon!
